Study reveals factors impacting infrastructure supply in European regions.
The relationship between transport infrastructure and regional development is complex. Infrastructure can impact development, but development can also influence infrastructure investments. Factors like demand, costs, financing, policies, and borders affect infrastructure supply. A study on European regions found that these factors do impact the supply of railways and highways. However, regional policies did not show a significant impact. Interestingly, border regions did not seem to lack infrastructure supply at a broad level.
