The article discusses how ergonomics can be better integrated into computer-aided product design to create safer and more comfortable products. The researchers developed a new computer-aided design methodology using an expert system approach, which was tested on designing a wheelchair seating system. Results showed that the new method reduced design cycle time and provided designers with important ergonomic design data quickly.
