Researchers studied different techniques to improve the productivity of rainfed Bt cotton. They found that opening furrows in alternate rows resulted in the highest cotton yield compared to mulching or intercropping with soybean. Intercropping cotton with soybean gave the best overall returns. Using 100% recommended fertilizer with micronutrients based on soil testing led to the highest cotton yield, while a mix of inorganic fertilizer and vermicompost was also effective.
