Dolphins off the south coast of Zanzibar are facing threats like hunting and habitat degradation. Researchers studied Indo-Pacific bottlenose and humpback dolphins to understand their behavior and population sizes. They found that dolphin tourism can disrupt nursing and habitat use, potentially harming the dolphins and reducing tourism opportunities. Mixed species groups of dolphins were also observed, possibly for safety and social benefits. These findings will help protect dolphins in the area.
