Neglected maintenance in public sector properties hindering efficiency in Sweden
The article examines how public organizations and private companies in Sweden manage special properties to improve efficiency despite limited funding. They used a questionnaire to gather information on property decisions and maintenance strategies. The findings show that many companies own special properties, but the leasing market may not expand soon. Public sector organizations could benefit from outsourcing and clearer leasing policies. Neglected maintenance is higher in public sectors compared to private companies, which have better long-term maintenance plans. The study suggests the need for clearer definitions and classifications of property activities.
