High-Tech Bridges Extend Lifespan and Cut Costs for Public Roads!
A program called Innovative Bridge Research and Construction is working to make bridges last longer and cost less by using new materials. They are testing advanced technologies like high performance concrete to improve bridge quality. The program has $102 million to fund engineering studies, material testing, and monitoring of bridges. By 2003, they plan to have built or fixed 250 bridges with these new materials.
