Urban areas are expanding into farmland, leading to the loss of agricultural land. This study looked at four European cities to see if urban planning can help protect farmland. They found that integrating agricultural services into urban planning can help preserve periurban agricultural land. By learning from successful approaches in these cities, we can rethink urban planning to include agricultural landscapes around cities. This can help stop the loss of farmland due to urban development.
