The Ipswich Motorway Upgrade project in Queensland aimed to transform a four-lane motorway into a modern six-lane road with future expansion to eight lanes. Thirteen bridges were demolished to make way for the new road alignment, including cable stay structures and arches. The project team planned and executed the demolition carefully to ensure safety for the public, workers, and the environment. By obtaining a high-grade demolition license and self-performing critical tasks, the team was able to deconstruct the bridges over roads and waterways without causing harm. Additionally, the project focused on reusing and recycling various bridge components, showcasing a sustainable approach to bridge demolition.
