Paclobutrazol treatment boosts mango yield by 55% and advances harvest maturity
A study was done on mango trees to see how a plant growth regulator called paclobutrazol affects their flowering, fruiting, and quality. Different doses and times of applying paclobutrazol were tested on mango trees. The results showed that paclobutrazol made the trees flower earlier and increased the percentage of flowers. It also made the fruits mature faster, leading to an earlier harvest. The trees treated with paclobutrazol produced more fruits, with the best results seen in the treatment applied in September. The quality of the fruits, like sweetness and acidity, was not affected by paclobutrazol. Overall, using paclobutrazol in September gave the best results in terms of fruit yield and cost benefit.
