New method accurately measures blood sulfide levels, potential for medical breakthroughs!
Scientists have developed a method to measure free sulfide in blood using a chemical called monobromobimane. They found that a mixture of acetonitrile and HEPES buffer works well for this process. By testing this method on rat blood, they discovered that baseline levels of free sulfide are around 0.3 – 0.5 μM. This method has also been successful in measuring sulfide levels in different species.
