Innovative bridge design saves millions, improves flood-prone infrastructure in Queensland.
The Einasleigh River Bridge in North Queensland was replaced due to frequent flooding. The new 2-lane bridge was designed to be 5m higher and 416m long. The key challenge was optimizing the length and size of the bridge deck units to reduce costs. Additionally, innovative design solutions were used to overcome stability issues caused by hard rock near the surface. The project saved approximately $4-5M through these design improvements. Overall, the design and construct contract allowed the contractor to bring their expertise to the design process, resulting in a successful and cost-effective bridge replacement project.
