Old railway tracks in Victoria are being repurposed as road bridges, potentially saving millions in replacement costs. Metrail is exploring this idea further by designing modern bridges using the same method. A prototype was built and tested at Monash University, showing that this cost-effective construction approach is feasible for modern bridges, especially when reducing deck depth is important.
