Revolutionizing Tanzania's Roads: Improving Infrastructure for Safer Travel
The Tanzanian Roads Department worked on improving the country's road network from 1990 to 2000 through the Integrated Roads Project. They focused on rehabilitating roads and setting up a maintenance plan using ideas from the World Bank. The Department made progress by establishing the Management Action Group in 1994 to address weaknesses and make improvements. They worked on developing staff skills, updating road laws, and creating better management systems. Despite progress, there is still room for improvement in Tanzania's road network.
