New Indonesian Soil Data Reveals Carbon Stock Impact on Climate
The Indonesian soil database contains a wealth of information on soil properties and carbon stocks. By using data from various sources, researchers estimated the soil organic carbon stock in different soil types across Indonesia. They found that Oxisols have a bulk density of 1.04 + 0.18 Mg m -3 and a carbon content of 2.06 + 1.15%, while Histosols have a bulk density of 0.44 + 0.04 Mg m -3 and a carbon content of 42.08 + 10.23%. This information helps us understand the amount of carbon stored in Indonesian soils and how it varies between different soil types.
