New Research Reveals How Oviduct Reactivity Impacts Fertility in Rats and Rabbits
The researchers studied how muscle strips from different parts of the oviduct in rabbits and rats react to noradrenaline. They found that the ovarium and ampulla have the highest spontaneous contractions, while the horn has the lowest. Noradrenaline inhibits contractions in rat oviduct and ovarium, but stimulates contractions in rabbit oviduct. The response to noradrenaline varies in different parts of the oviduct, with the ampulla being most sensitive in rabbits and the horn being most sensitive in rats. This shows that there are different types of adrenergic reactions in different areas of the oviduct.
