New model predicts wind speeds for offshore turbines with unprecedented accuracy!
The researchers studied wind patterns above the sea to better understand how to predict wind energy for large turbines. They analyzed data from two tall towers in the North Sea and found that wind speed can be affected by factors like temperature and land-sea transitions. Their new model accurately predicts wind speeds at different heights, showing that the atmosphere above the sea starts changing around 10 to 30 meters above the surface.
