The article presents a new processor for wavelet transforms that can handle different types of wavelet filters. It uses Processing Elements to perform forward and inverse transforms quickly. The processor can support higher order wavelet filters and has a flexible memory size to adapt to different applications. The design includes a multi-context configuration to choose between various transforms. For a 16-bit implementation, the estimated size of the processor is 2.5 mm square with a frequency of 319 MHz.
