Bangladesh's Asset Backed Securities Market Hindered by Lack of Legislation.
Structured finance, like Asset Backed Securities (ABS), is a way to refinance profitable assets efficiently. ABS is popular in developed and developing countries, including Bangladesh. However, ABS growth in Bangladesh is hindered by factors like a lack of sophisticated debt markets and legislation, as well as capacity issues. To improve the ABS market, implementing a dynamic securitization act, strengthening the debt market, and enhancing the role of primary dealers and government as market makers are suggested. These changes could lead to a wide range of opportunities for ABS in Bangladesh.
