African Americans at Higher Risk for Lower Quality Kidneys: Study
Propensity score matching helps balance out differences between groups in medical studies using observational data. It acts like a 'quasi-randomized' trial, reducing bias in treatment effect estimates. In this study, it was used to show that African Americans are more likely to receive lower quality kidney transplants. It also demonstrated the benefits of laparoscopic surgery for liver cancer that has spread to the colon. This method is valuable for making observational studies more reliable.
