Groundwater flow simulation reveals potential environmental risks near waste tire site.
Groundwater flow around a pilot waste tire site was simulated using a 3D model. The study focused on three aquifers separated by underclays. The upper aquifer showed minimal flow towards the southwest, while the middle aquifer had slow flow near the site but increased towards the southwest. Leakage from the upper aquifer was the main source of recharge for the middle aquifer, while the lower aquifer was mainly recharged by regional flow and flowed due south. The model used MODFLOW for simulation and included different boundary conditions for each aquifer layer.
