The Kyoto Protocol aimed to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions to tackle climate change. However, it has not succeeded, leading to unavoidable large temperature increases. Australia will meet its emission targets for Kyoto, and has joined the new version, but these efforts are not enough to prevent significant global warming.
