Aging 'Fuyu' Persimmon Trees Yield Double the Fruit at 80!
The study looked at how 'Fuyu' persimmon trees of different ages grow and produce fruit. They studied trees from 3 to 81 years old in Gyeongnam Province. As the trees got older, their trunks got bigger and they produced more fruit. However, the size of the fruit decreased after around 40 years. The number of fruits and yield per tree increased with age, with 80-year-old trees producing twice as much as 30-year-old trees. The best yield per hectare was seen in 54-year-old trees, and this high yield was maintained until 81 years of age.
