The Oasis beach in Varadero, Cuba is facing erosion issues, and previous attempts to fix it have failed. A study was done to find a solution to improve the beach and stop the erosion. The researchers analyzed the area and found that natural recovery of the beach is limited. They discovered that the erosion is caused by the lack of sediment transport due to the area's steep bathymetry and weather conditions. After evaluating different options, they proposed building a perched beach with a sill to support the beach and reduce maintenance needs. This solution was chosen for its effectiveness in protecting against erosion and maintaining the beach's quality.
