New bridge to ease traffic congestion and improve maintenance in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The Lucy Mill Bridge in England is being converted into a new road crossing over the river Avon to ease traffic congestion and allow for maintenance on the existing Clopton Bridge. The project, which started in 1990, involves strengthening the bridge's structure and adding a new deck with footways on both sides. Extensive investigations were done to ensure the bridge was safe for use, despite not being maintained since the 1960s. The completion of the bridge is expected in May 1990.
