Ukrainian Companies' Audits Reveal Widespread Accounting Irregularities, Raising Concerns for Investors
The article examines auditor's reports of Ukrainian public companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange for changes in the auditor's opinion and emphasis of matter paragraphs. Key issues in accounting and reporting are identified, along with reasons for qualified auditor's opinions. The inability to obtain audit evidence and significant errors related to IFRS application were common reasons for qualified opinions. The study also compared the scrutiny levels of Big Four auditors and others, and highlighted questions addressed in emphasis of matter paragraphs.
