Coal gasification is studied as a potential energy option in the US due to abundant coal reserves and rising oil and gas prices. Researchers have reviewed literature from 1970 onwards to explore coal conversion for fuel production. The findings suggest that gasifying coal could be a feasible way to create synthetic fuel and address environmental concerns associated with the process. The study indicates that with the vast US coal supply, coal gasification stands as a promising energy alternative.
