High Nitrogen Fertilization Reduces Rice Seedling Survival and Growth Rates
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen fertilizer affect the growth of rice seedlings in different types of nursery soils. They found that too much nitrogen led to lower emergence and establishment rates. Seedling height increased with nitrogen in hill soil, but not in paddy soil. The number of leaves didn't change much with nitrogen levels after 6 days. Endosperm survival decreased with more nitrogen. Root weight decreased with nitrogen in paddy soil, but not in hill soil. Mat formation was better with less nitrogen. The best nitrogen levels for seedling growth were 2g/box for hill soil and 1g/box for paddy soil.
