New Hazard Map Reveals 30% of Caspian Sea Coast at Risk
The scientists created a map to show where landslides and liquefaction are likely to happen along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in Iran. They divided the area into 15 hazard zones based on the risk level. By removing negative factors and reevaluating the map, they improved its accuracy by 93.5%. The map reveals that around 30% of the area is at risk of high liquefaction and low sliding hazards.
