The researchers studied a coastal hill forest in Malaysia to understand its plant diversity and economic value. They found a total of 348 plant species, with trees being the most common. The Dipterocarpaceae family was the most valuable for timber. The forest had a high level of diversity, especially when there were more individual plants in a sample. The average stumpage value of the forest was MYR 93741 per hectare.
