A high performance concrete (HPC) bridge was built in Nebraska in 1995 to test its durability compared to a regular concrete bridge nearby. The HPC bridge used special concrete girders and was designed with input from various stakeholders. The goal was to show that HPC can be used effectively and affordably. The project's success was due to collaboration between industry, academia, and government, leading to a practical and cost-effective methodology for building HPC structures.
