Polychaetes Dominate Yellow Sea Benthic Community, Shaping Ecosystem Dynamics.
The study looked at the importance of polychaetes in the Yellow Sea's benthic community from 1982 to 1986. Polychaetes were a major part of the benthos, even though echinoderms and mollusks were more dominant in terms of biomass. Different sampling methods showed varying levels of polychaete presence, with dredging showing lower rates due to surface sediment disturbance. A total of 141 species were identified, with key polychaetes including Spiophanes bormbyx, Ampharete arctica, Geniada maulata, Nephtys caeca, and Nothria iridescens.
