The researchers used derivative analysis to estimate hydraulic parameters of a fractured rock aquifer during pumping tests in Korea. By analyzing the rate of drawdown change over time, they were able to identify wellbore storage and transition periods that were difficult to see with traditional methods. Derivative analysis helped distinguish aquifer properties from non-aquifer effects, leading to more accurate hydraulic parameter estimates.
