The study looked at the costs of producing milk in the southern region of Minas Gerais. They found that milk prices were lower than the total cost but higher than the variable cost. Even with negative profits, it's still better to keep producing as long as variable costs are covered. The main expenses for milk production were cattle feed and labor. Machinery and equipment were the fixed costs that had the biggest impact on production costs.
