Double cropping cotton after barley harvest boosts yields and income significantly.
The researchers studied the best ways to grow cotton after harvesting barley in Korea. They found that transplanting cotton between June 10 to 20 after barley harvest resulted in higher yields compared to direct planting. Using a specific cotton variety, fertilizer rate, and planting density led to the best results. Double cropping barley and cotton together produced more yield and income than growing cotton alone. Intercropping cotton between barley rows also increased income. Overall, transplanting cotton after barley harvest in a specific way can lead to higher cotton yields and profits in Korea.
