The article argues that professional ethics in economics is important, especially for heterodox economists. Some left-leaning economists are skeptical about this idea, thinking it won't stop bad behavior or fix the main problems in economics. However, the article suggests that professional ethics can actually help address these issues and that heterodox economists should support it. The paper also discusses how professional ethics could impact how economics is taught.
