Groundwater and stream water pollution threatens drinking water quality in Asia.
The study looked at how water quality changes in areas with agriculture. Groundwater had higher levels of certain chemicals than stream water, with nitrate levels too high for drinking. During the rainy season, stream water had slightly higher nitrate and potassium levels. Groundwater was polluted by fertilizers and compost, while stream water was polluted by soil and organic matter. Key factors affecting water quality were electrical conductivity, nitrate, calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, and sulfate in groundwater, and ammonium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, and sulfate in stream water.
