Revolutionizing Korean Clothing Trends: Textiles Dominate, History Resurges, Fashion Booms
The article explores the trends in clothing and textiles research in Korea from 1959 to 1990. Researchers analyzed 620 articles from three professional journals and found that the number and quality of research in the field have significantly increased over time. Textiles and history of costume were the most researched areas, with a focus on clothing management and Korean costume history. Socio-psychological clothing research peaked in the early 1980s but decreased later on. Clothing construction research decreased overall, while fashion merchandising research steadily increased from the late 1970s to 1990.
