Serious Microbial Contamination Found in Drinking Water in Rural Fujian.
The goal of the study was to check the quality of drinking water in rural areas of Fujian Province. Researchers selected 14 counties and tested water samples from 10 sites in each county. They found that 38.71% of people used surface water, 61.29% used groundwater, and 58.24% had centralized water supply. Only 26.39% of water samples met quality standards, with surface water being cleaner than groundwater. The study concluded that in some rural areas of Fujian, the drinking water quality is poor, especially due to microbial contamination.
