Late planting of Cassia tora leads to poor pod production.
A study looked at how different planting times affect the flowering and pod setting of Cassia tora L., a medicinal legume crop. Plants seeded later bloomed later and had fewer flowers, ovules, and pods. Flowers that bloomed in the second week after planting had the most ovules and pods. Plants seeded in April to May had longer pods with more seeds compared to those seeded in June. Flowers blooming after early September did not develop into mature pods. Overall, planting earlier resulted in better pod characteristics for Cassia tora L.
