In the eastern Mediterranean Sea, researchers found 15 species of hydro-medusae in 170 plankton samples. Six of these species are new to the eastern Mediterranean, while four are new to the entire Mediterranean Sea. It is likely that two of these species came from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal. The researchers collected data from various stations where the plankton samples were taken.
