Revolutionary System Saves 400 Korean Beaches from Erosion Crisis
Beaches in Korea have been eroding since the 1990s, causing problems for the coastal ecosystem. A system called Disaster Overall Prevention System for Beach Erosion was developed to protect eroded beaches. The system includes economic feasibility tests and sustainable mitigation strategies. By applying this system to Namae beach, beach nourishment and artificial reefs were found to be effective countermeasures for beach erosion.
