Optimal planting density and fertilizer level boost burley tobacco yield and quality.
Planting density and fertilizer level were studied to see how they affect the growth, yield, and quality of burley tobacco. The researchers found that increasing plant spacing and fertilizer led to higher leaf area, dry leaf weight, and crop growth rate. The best results were seen with a spacing of 105cm x 34cm and a compound fertilizer level of 263kg/10a. More fertilizer also increased leaf size and stem diameter. Total alkaloid and nitrogen content increased with more spacing and fertilizer. The optimal conditions for high yield were a spacing of 105cm x 35-40cm and 227.5kg/10a of fertilizer.
