Soil microbes revolutionize swine wastewater treatment, achieving 97% nitrogen removal rate!
The study found that using soil microorganisms can effectively treat swine wastewater, with a high removal rate of nitrogen compounds. The nitrification process took between 5 and 11 days, with a minimum hydraulic retention time of 11 days and solid retention time of 25 days. The reactor conditions were able to recover from damage to nitrosomonas due to pH and concentration changes.
