Flooding rice fields on seeding date boosts yield and reduces weeds!
The study looked at different ways to plant rice in wet soil and when to flood the field after planting. They found that using a drill seeder or dibbling seeder for planting rice had similar emergence rates, but using a power dust blower had low emergence. Planting with a drill seeder or dibbling seeder saved time compared to transplanting seedlings. Flooding the field on the seeding date led to quicker emergence, higher yield, and fewer weeds. Overall, flooding the field on the seeding date resulted in the best rice yield.
