The water quality in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal is not good enough to support a healthy ecosystem. The researchers collected data from various sources and found that the deteriorating quality of river water has led to frequent cases of waterborne diseases like diarrhea and cholera among people living near the rivers. This has also affected the religious, recreational, and aesthetic value of the rivers in the area.
