The article discusses the development of a software engineering environment that aims to create a set of tools for managing the software lifecycle. The researchers have been working on integrating various tools into a comprehensive system since 1982, focusing on tool development, integration, human interfaces, data dictionaries, and testing algorithms. They are currently working on improving natural language interfaces, expert system software development, and using Ada as the target language. The current implementation is on a VAX-11/780, with plans to network other software development tools through engineering workstations.
