Direct-seeded rice boosts yields and profits in Indo-Gangetic Plains.
A study compared different ways of growing rice to see which method was most productive and profitable. They found that direct-seeded hybrid rice gave higher yields than manually transplanted rice. The crops grown after direct-seeded rice also had higher yields compared to those after transplanted rice. The systems with direct-seeded rice had higher overall productivity and profits. Additionally, the soil under direct seeding had better infiltration rates and nutrient levels compared to mechanical transplanting. Overall, direct-seeded rice was more efficient and profitable than transplanted rice in this study.
