Optimizing Solar Panel Spacing Boosts Output by Up to 5%
The study looked at how changing the arrangement of solar panels can increase their power output without changing the size or specifications of the system. By adjusting the spacing between rows of solar panels, the researchers found that rearranging them in a certain way can lead to a significant increase in power output. Specifically, rearranging the panels in one row increased output by about 1.2%, in two rows by about 2.8%, and in three rows by about 5.0%. Additionally, the spacing between panels increased by 0.39m for one row, 0.82m for two rows, and 1.29m for three rows, resulting in delayed shading effects and ultimately improving the overall power output.
