The goal of the study was to ensure the alignment of a long-span concrete-filled steel-tube arch bridge during construction. The researchers adjusted the length of cables in real-time to maintain the designed alignment. The use of this on-line cable adjustment technology was found to be both cost-effective and safe for building such bridges.
