Fertilizer application boosts soil fertility and prevents nutrient leaching.
A study was done on red soil to see how different fertilizers affect the movement of calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Fertilizers like CaCO3 and CaSO4 made magnesium move down in the soil, while urea helped keep calcium and magnesium in the upper layers. KCl and a mix of fertilizers made calcium and magnesium move down in the soil. KNO3 made calcium and magnesium move down a lot in the soil.
